failed relationships can change us
Hubby and I have been together for more than five years. And during that time, we only face minute problems. However, I am asking what will happen if we break up. Of course, I don’t intend to end our relationship; I am just curious what will happen. For sure some things will change. And this change is backed up by a scientific investigation.
Researchers suggest that longer-term relationships may have a much more significant influence on us than we would like to accept, or become aware of. When the couple falls apart, the effects of that influence linger on as LiveScience reports. One of the main reasons why our perception of self changes is the fact that we tend to share friends, hobbies and our free time with our partners, and also engage in discussions of the future says Erica Slotter.
According to the paper, the more two members of a couple spend together the more likely they are to leave aside their individual differences, and see themselves as part of a whole. This scenario is very difficult to deal with when the relationship falls apart.
