Organic Herbal Shampoo and Conditioner

Pour one application of a mild baby shampoo into a cup and add 2 tablespoons of a strong decoction of herbs. Or you may use 4 drops of essential oil or 4 drops of tincture. Mix together and use normally.
Herbal Decoction
Put 1 oz of mixed herbs or herb of your choice in a non metal pot add 10 oz of spring or tap water. Bring it slowly to a boil, lower heat, and gently simmer for 5-10 minutes. Turn off heat and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain and store in refrigerator and use within a few days. Here are some herbs used in hair care:
To Condition Dry Hair
- Comfrey – Contains allantoin, a protein which speeds up cell renewal
- Elderflowers – A Softener
- Marshmallow – A Softener
- Parsley – Conditioner for sensitive skin and hair
To Condition Oily Hair
- Calendula – Antiseptic, saffron color for blondes
- Parsley – Conditioner
- Lemon juice – Cleanser
- Lemon balm – Cleanser adds sheen
- Lavender – Cleanser and astringent
- Mint – Astringent
- Rosemary – Conditioner
- Witch Hazel – Cleanser and astringent
- Yarrow – Stimulates growth and eradicates dandruff.
