  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle You and your partner should have nutritious and balance diet with the right amount of protein and plenty of fiber. Exercise and avoid smoking. Alcohol may be consumed but in moderation: not more than two to three glasses of red wine a week or its equivalent should be consumed.
  • Engage in regular make love every two to three days Don’t make love only during ovulation, this only causes stress and does not produce positive results.
  • Take folic acid of at least 400 micrograms daily to prevent the occurrence of specific brain development problems in the baby.
  • Visit your Ob-gynecologist even when there is no specific complaint. Have an annual Pap test to screen for cervical cancer. A pelvic exam is also a must to check for masses.
