The different face treatments!
What are the difference of IPL, Fraxel, and Refirme? Generally, machines deliver different energies which are divided into lasers, light and current. Here are the basic difference between the three and the result they produce.
IPL (Intense Pulse Light) is a light technology. It’s good for freckles and fine wrinkles, but there are already reports of secondary darkening to IPL treatment. This, of course, is not good, so a lot of dermatologists are using other lasers.
Fraxel is a laser. It does resurfacing, and is lot milder than the carbon dioxide laser resurfacing that was done before. This means lesser down time, but milder effects too.
Refirme is a machine combining IPL and radiofrequency (current). This is the current trend: combining different energies into one machine to make it cost efficient.
Take note: one should consult first and get an honest opinion on the different modalities and options, or else you’ll find yourself enrolling in a package of treatment sessions you do not actually need in the first place. Once you’ve pick up a treatment, go for a session or two, then meet with your dermatologist as to what you have really observed, as far as the good effects of the treatments are concerned.
