Malignancies come in many sizes and shapes. If you have a funny-looking spot, show it to your doctor, even if it doesn’t resemble one of these:

Basal cell often appears as a small, domed bump that’s pearly-white or pink in color. It can also look like a pimple or small sore; it may heal, then come back.

Squamous cell usually appears as a crusty or scaly patch, with a red, inflamed base. While it’s most common on sun-exposed areas, it can occur inside the mouth, on the genitals – anywhere in the body.

Melanoma The ABCDE rule though not perfect, can help you tell a normal mole from an abnormal one:
Asymmetry one half of the mole doesn’t match the other.
Borders the edges are irregular.
Color isn’t the same all over.
Diameter is larger than a pencil eraser (six millimeters)
Evolving the mole is changing in size, shape, color or elevation, or it has begun to bleed, itch or crust over.
