I made a mistake againHubby and I were walking around the mall last Saturday, when my eyes captured the beautiful dress in the display stand. I can’t help myself to drag hubby inside even if we don’t have any intention of purchasing any items aside from our groceries.

I instantly fall in-love to the dress that pushed me to fit it and it’s perfect. I feel so good wearing it. Even without hubby’s approval I head to the counter and pay it. Hmmm, I noticed the store is improving. They are now using a new EPSON tm-t88iv POS thermal printer, which is the latest addition to Epson innovative.

But, that’s not what caught my attention. As looking at the printer, I saw the receipt coming out and my heart starts pumping. Gosh, it’s an expensive shirt. I did not read the tag. Now, I just added another huge amount in my credit card. I’m so doomed.

planning to change my laptopMy laptop is soon turning two. It’s not that long, but I feel the need to get an updated version. The truth is, the Inspiron 1525 model, which is currently I am using is still sold in the market for a fair price. But, the manufacturer already removed it from their list and says it is outdated.

There is an updated version though. But, the specs available are the same as mine. I already made a few upgrades before and the laptops they sold today only have minor or no difference at all. That is why I am beginning to ask myself, why change?

Although my laptop functions well, it has few things that I don’t like such as dead battery and scratched paint. Okay, I can still salvage its look by having it repainted. But, there is little I can do for the battery. It’s quite expensive; the 6-cell costs $135.99 while $155.99 for the 9-cell. Sigh! I wouldn’t mind purchasing a new battery if most of the reviews say it will last longer than a year or two. Sadly it doesn’t so why bother.

Anyway, I’m off to catch some Zzz…. Nap. Hehehe!

scary realityI hate the fact that every time I turn my television channel to news program, I’m always hearing crimes and deaths. But, what can I do, this is the reality of the world today. I feel I’m always facing danger everywhere. Even at home, I also feel vulnerable of falling victim to burglary. Any time it can happen with or without me at home. That’s why I believe I need wireless security systems.

Actually, a home security system is one of the most important household gadgets of today’s home. It protects the houses against burglars and other intruders such that it gives the owners peace of mind and a good night sleep. The owners can truly rest knowing that their family is safer because of this gadget.

With that fact, I am convinced that I should purchase an alarm system the soonest possible time.

sofa's 101 buying guideSofa or divan is a major investment. And, you expect it to keep your family comfortable for years. Here is some tips before purchasing it.

Frame – a sturdy frame means a long lasting sofa. Soft wood, such as pine is low cost, but may warp or wobble after five years. Pricier hardwood (like kiln-dried oak, ash or beech) is more durable. Avoid frames made of particleboard, plastic or metal; they may warp and crack. Legs should be part of the frame or held on with screws or dowels (pegs) not with glue alone.

To test the frame strength, lift one front corner or leg of the sofa off the floor. By the time you’ve raised it six inches; the other front leg should have risen too. If it’s still touching the floor, the frame is too weak.

A frame with joints connected by any of the following means it is solidly constructed; wooden dowels, double wooden dowels, wooden corner blocks (or corner blocks glued and screwed) or metal screws and brackets. Staples or nails may be used for extra reinforcement, but never buy sofa that’s held together solely by staples, nails, or glue.

Comfort level and support – most sofas has sinuous, also called serpentine, springs, and preassembled units of snaking wire. They’re supportive, but press on the frame or sag over time if the metal isn’t heavy. High end sofas often come with eight-way hand-tied springs. They are comfy, but expensive. Feel the springs through the upholstery – they should be close together and firm. Sofas with no springs, just webbing or mesh are uncomfortable and flimsy. Sit down firmly on a corner or outside edge of a sofa you’re considering. Squeaks and creaks suggest that springs are incorrectly placed or hitting the frame.
